“Should they cut their losses—as advised by a pretty direct couples therapist—or should they forge ahead with this unhappy union to prove everyone who doubted them wrong?” writes Kristy Puchko of Cinemablend about I give it a year, a movie that is not, by all means, a romantic comedy. That is, only if you’re a swinger at heart. Though it has its moments, I found myself wanting to find the filmmakers responsible for this, and reenact the scene where the couples therapists berates her husband through the telephone. This is probably the most cynical movie about marriage that I’ve seen, and hope to see anyway.
