I don’t usually follow politics that closely, but I could not help but pay close attention to Barack Obama’s victory speech. As I read Emergency by Neil Strauss (and as Guatemala faces an emergency of its own, after an earthquake hit the country today), I find the book’s timing spot on in regards to the U.S. and its role in the world, both symbolically and culturally.
Obama’s speech reflects what the citizens need to hear, and was delivered by him in a candid and warm way. “By the way, we have to fix that”, he said, as an apology to those who stood in long lines to vote. Classy move.
On a related note… Romney wants to congratulate the president.
