Otto Pérez Molina, current Guatemalan president, should resign from his position, in the wake of last Thursday’s events: the killing of, approximately 6 or 7 protestors, at Santa María Ixtahuacán, Sololá. He has lots of excuses and not much remorse for the part that the Guatemalan army played in
containing “handling” the uprising.
Several social and indigenous organizations are asking for his and Interior Minister Mauricio Lopez Bonilla’s resignations. Good luck with that, people. We are talking about individuals who will not easily accept wrongdoing, let alone step down from office. Even if it’s the right thing to do.
